“Reforming Criminal Justice in Maryland – A Returning Citizen’s Perspective”
Nicole Hanson is a passionate advocate for criminal justice reform. She will discuss her organization’s priorities in the 2018 Maryland legislative session, including streamlining the expungement process, re-opening women’s work release programs, improving access to medical care in prison, and protecting recent reforms to the cash bail system.
Nicole Hanson is the Executive Director of Out For Justice. OFJ is a returning citizen and member-led organization with the mission to engage, educate, and empower individuals with criminal records in Maryland to create structural change through legislation, policy reform and advocacy. OFJ organizes those with criminal records and their friends and families, and collaborates with other organizations through grassroots networks, partnerships and coalitions, to collectively strategize to create policies and legislative initiatives that remove barriers.
