“Ethics and Dentistry”

Dr. Eric Katkow will share anecdotes about his experience as a member of the Maryland State Board of Dental Examiners.  The audience will have an opportunity to put on their ethical hats and participate in a discussion of real life situations Dr. Katkow faced that require ethical thinking to resolve.  Learn about the consequences dentists have faced when poor ethical decision-making occurred.

Dr. Eric Katkow grew up in Baltimore and attended Baltimore City College, the University of Virginia, the University of Maryland School of Dentistry; and spent two years of military service including VietNam with the Marines. He shares his private practice of general dentistry in Columbia with his son Larry, a 1998 dental school graduate.  He was appointed by Gov. Glendenning and reappointed by Gov. Ehrlich to serve on the Maryland State Board of Dental Examiners. He is an active examiner for the Commission on Dental Competency Assessment. In his spare time he completed 57 marathons and 15 JFK 50 milers. Dr. Katkow has two children, Larry and Sharon, a speech pathologist and four grandchildren (which is the best stage of life)!
