“Ethical Society as Family”

Do you think of an Ethical Society as a kind of a family? If so, have you ever wondered how far that analogy goes and if there might be any unintended consequences of it? John Daken will offer some perspectives on this concept, describe some problems that can arise if we think of our clergy Leaders as “parents,“ and – drawing upon lessons his daughter has taught him about parenting – suggest a better way to engage one another as we work together to build a more ethical society.  (If things work out, John may be joined by a special guest.)

John Daken is a Washington Ethical Society member. He is currently chair of the AEU’s Membership Committee and serving on the Leadership Committee. At one time he was a Leader in Training, serving in Baltimore.
