“Ethical Immigration Policy” (zoom)
The U. S. immigration system needs fundamental repair, but not in manner chosen by the new administration. We must better incorporate ten million undocumented immigrants into our country, most of whom have lived here constructively for more than a decade! They do not deserve to be treated as criminals. We must do better to protect those seeking asylum. Many are fleeing life threatening situations exacerbated by our country’s insatiable thirst for drugs and our global status as the top gun manufacturer. Hugh Taft-Morales explores options for compassionate, legal, and ethical responses to increasingly chaotic migratory patterns worldwide.
Hugh Taft-Morales serves as Leader of the Philadelphia Ethical Society and the Baltimore Ethical Society and is a member of the Ethical Action Committee of the American Ethical Union (AEU). Hugh taught philosophy and history for twenty-five years in Washington, D. C., after which he transitioned into Ethical Culture Leadership. In April of 2009 he graduated from the Humanist Institute and was certified as an Ethical Culture Leader by the AEU in 2010.
