“Godless Spirituality” at the 18th Ignite Baltimore

Posted in: News

On Thursday, April 21st, Leader Hugh Taft-Morales was privileged to offer a 5 minute presentation on “Godless Spirituality” at the 18th Ignite Baltimore in the MICA auditorium. Along with 15 other presenters, Hugh shared 20 visual slides along with his talk before about 400 people. He echoed a thesis from a talk given at BES this past winter. Spirituality is available to skeptics and humanists, especially when it relies on “the steady legs of science, the wings of imagination, and outstretched helping hands.”

As described on their website, Ignite is a “geek event” that takes place in 100 cities worldwide.  It hopes to spark new conversations and collaborations across many cultures and disciplines.  Presenters must use 20 slides that auto-advance every 15 seconds, so the audience is guaranteed to enjoy a fast moving evening.

Hugh decided to offer this talk thanks to the encouragement of BES President Paul Furth and 2012 Ignite speaker Emil Volcheck.
